Maya White Feather,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Of course, everything you have suggested is appropriate, and the Grandmothers do have a suggestion for beginners. If we think about how young women were introduced, it gives us an idea about how we might consider our frequency of use.
When a young woman began her menses, she saved some of her blood for the next full moon ceremony. During her initiation at the next full moon ceremony, she was taught the first part of the Creation Meditation and instructed to do it every day for nine days. On the ninth day, she sat with one of the elders to discuss her experiences and to receive any further guidance she might need. Nine days was considered enough time for her to start becoming familiar with some of the nuances, challenges and benefits of the meditation.
It was really a rather brilliant approach. A young woman's issues at that age might seem quite overwhelming, but given a history of respect and no abuse (cultivated in this tribe), we can probably safely assume her issues were manageable. She might be grappling with her desire for independence, frustration with her mother, being in love and not knowing how to express it etc. If she actually focused on her concern for nine days in this powerfully healing meditation, she was likely to get through her personal obstacles and into a place of emotional freedom during that period of time.
The Grandmothers recognize that our issues as adults today are often much bigger, manifesting from years and life-times of oppression and abuse. They also know that as you get older, you are also meditating with and transforming the archetype of the issue as well as your personal feelings. They realize you may not meditate with your personal challenge every day. However, if you do decide to take into the Creation Meditation daily, you are likely to see your intended result much sooner.
So of course, follow your inner guidance first and foremost. Second, consider that if the issue is persistent but not chronic in your life, you might be able to move through it within a nine day practice. If it is a chronic issue you have had most of your life, consistently bringing it into the Creation Meditation (at a pace that is right for you) will in time bring you the freedom you desire.
Hugs, Reverend Misa
